TUMI LAUNCHES TRAVEL COL­LEC­TION WITH MCLAR­EN

Fant­ast­ic weath­er, lounge music, drinks, fin­ger food and nice guests: this is how Tumi launched its new McLar­en-inspired premi­um lug­gage and travel col­lec­tion last Thursday. Inter­ested guests and press rep­res­ent­at­ives were intro­duced to the nine super mod­els, which com­bine the simple eleg­ance of McLar­en with the prac­tic­al com­fort of Tumi.
In addi­tion to the sporty and eleg­ant cap­sule col­lec­tion, two par­tic­u­larly dynam­ic mod­els caused quite a stir: The McLar­en 720 S Coupé and the McLar­en GT attrac­ted onlook­ers and car engine fans. It was a unique oppor­tun­ity to get a close-up look at the high-per­form­ance super­cars, which were hand-assembled in Eng­land, and maybe even take a selfie or two.
Since 1975, Tumi has been design­ing busi­ness, travel and per­form­ance lux­ury goods designed to enhance, sim­pli­fy and beau­ti­fy every step in motion. Flaw­less func­tion­al­ity is com­bined with strength, so a col­lab­or­a­tion with McLar­en was an obvi­ous choice.
The Tumi brand is sold in over 75 coun­tries and approx­im­ately 2000 points of sales world­wide. Mindaugas Mikalauskas and his Tumi team are always happy to wel­come vis­it­ors and give them a tour of the pretty two-storey store at Kö-Bogen.

At Kö-Bogen, amidst a col­our­ful sea of flowers, the Miss Dior Mille­fiori pop-up of the French lux­ury brand Dior shone in the form of a per­fume bottle. On the occa­sion of the launch of the new Miss Dior Eau de Par­fum, celebrity guests and fash­ionis­tas could exper­i­ence the dazzling Miss Dior dream in all its facets. Mod­el Fran­ziska Knuppe, presenter Laura Wontorra and act­ress Veron­ica Ferres vis­ited the rav­ish­ing flor­al back­drop at Kö-Bogen and went on a first-class fra­grance jour­ney on the upper floor of the pretty pavil­ion.
Per­fectly placed next to the prom­in­ent Libe­s­kind ensemble on the Kö, the art­fully designed, col­our­ful Mille­fiori Garden provided the per­fect set­ting for photo shoots and selfies.

BRE­UNI­GER FASH­ION CAT­WALK AT KÖ-BOGEN

A very spe­cial event high­light was the spec­tac­u­larly staged sea­son open­ing autumn/winter 2021 of the Düs­sel­dorf fash­ion and life­style com­pany Bre­uninger. On a float­ing open air run­way on water, Bre­uninger high­light brands from premi­um, lux­ury and trend such as Gucci and Valentino were presen­ted. Invited guests and fash­ion enthu­si­asts mar­velled at the fash­ion shows hos­ted by Rabea Shif, known from RTL and VOX. Cool sound by DJ Axl­nt, the best weath­er and exclus­ive pro­mo­tion­al activ­it­ies made the sea­son kick-off an unfor­get­table experience.

AES­THET­IC CLIN­IC MED ACTS AS OFFI­CIAL VAC­CIN­A­TION CENTRE

With imme­di­ate effect, the Aes­thet­ic Clin­ic Med, spe­cial­ist clin­ic for plastic and aes­thet­ic sur­gery and der­ma­to­logy in Düs­sel­dorf, is offer­ing Corona anti­gen tests. As an offi­cially registered vac­cin­a­tion centre, the state-licensed clin­ic, which has been sta­tioned upstairs in the Kö-Bogen, Haus Hofgarten on the 5th floor since 2015, is allowed to carry out the tests with a con­nec­tion to the Corona WarnApp and issue leg­ally val­id test cer­ti­fic­ates. The tests will be car­ried out free of charge for all health insur­ance com­pan­ies and private patients until Octo­ber, and from 11.10.2021 at a charge of 12.50 euros. The clin­ic will also carry out vac­cin­a­tions in the near future. This will be decided depend­ing on need and demand. Düs­sel­dorf gets a new life­style magazine

THE DFD MAGAZINE IS PUB­LISHED FOR THE FIRST TIME

An excit­ing new devel­op­ment for the stra­tegic com­mu­nic­a­tion of the import­ant fash­ion des­tin­a­tion is the 36-page “DFD Magazine”, which will be pub­lished for the first time on 8 July 2021 and, just in time for Düsseldorf’s new shop­ping sea­son, will show numer­ous facets, favour­ite addresses, per­son­al­it­ies and must-sees of the fash­ion cap­it­al, of course includ­ing the Kö-Bogen — from gast­ro­nomy, to the hip café, to the pretty boutique, to the innov­at­ive concept store. Ser­vice-ori­ented, it offers a guideline and inspir­a­tion for a stay in Düs­sel­dorf. The magazine has a print run of almost 50,000 cop­ies and is dis­trib­uted nation­ally and loc­ally, e.g. on 23 and 24 July from 12 to 6 p.m. in front of the Kö-Bogen!

Back­ground: Under the umbrella brand DFD, the order busi­ness in Düs­sel­dorf will launch a com­pre­hens­ive loc­a­tion ini­ti­at­ive on 21 July 2021 and demon­strate strong syn­er­gies at the fash­ion hot­spot. This year, the Düs­sel­dorf Fash­ion Days of trade fairs and show­rooms will be accom­pan­ied by numer­ous activ­it­ies in the city centre: cur­rently 150 brands, retail­ers, hotels and gal­ler­ies have registered to cel­eb­rate fash­ion and art togeth­er. In addi­tion to net­work­ing events, art­fully staged shop win­dows and the first edi­tion of its own DFD magazine, Düs­sel­dorf will show itself as the city that art­fully cel­eb­rates the tri­ad of fash­ion, art and shop­ping in the sum­mer sea­son. In addi­tion to estab­lished net­work­ing formats such as the DFD Lounge at Karl-Arnold-Platz or the renowned Fash­ion Busi­ness Award, the trade pub­lic will also be offered show­room shuttle rides. The e‑brand Pole­star is the new DFD shuttle part­ner and stands for the cli­mate friend­li­ness of the state capital.

Tra­di­tion­al brand Miele moves to Kö-Bogen

The world’s lead­ing man­u­fac­turer of premi­um domest­ic, com­mer­cial and med­ic­al appli­ances oper­ates brand stores in around 100 major cit­ies — from Van­couver to Sydney. Fol­low­ing the Miele Exper­i­ence Centres (MEC) at the company’s headquar­ters in Gütersloh and in Ber­lin (Unter den Linden/corner of Friedrich­straße), the Düs­sel­dorf store at Kö-Bogen is the company’s third own address in Ger­many.  “This takes our brand pres­ence to a new level in one of the country’s regions with the highest pur­chas­ing power,” says Frank Jüttner, Seni­or Vice Pres­id­ent DACH of the Miele Group and also head of Miele Sales Germany.

Miele is mov­ing into the former two-storey shop with a total of 441 square metres of sales and stor­age space. Miele itself will move into the ground floor, while the new Miele sub­si­di­ary Otto Wilde Grillers will build an exclus­ive show­room on the ground floor. The move-in date is the end of 2021.

In Düs­sel­dorf, too, Miele will com­bine its eleg­ant brand world with first-class per­son­al advice and inter­act­ive digit­al present­a­tion. Cus­tom­ers will exper­i­ence the appli­ances live in action and can act­ively stand at the cook­er them­selves or indulge in freshly pre­pared samples.

“Espe­cially in the top loc­a­tions of the met­ro­pol­ises, large spe­cial­ist stores and online retail­ers often dom­in­ate the busi­ness, while clas­sic spe­cial­ist shops are rather rare,” says Frank Jüttner. In Düs­sel­dorf, the new MEC will soon close this gap.

Düs­sel­dorf cel­eb­rates fash­ion and the fash­ion busi­ness.
With the Düs­sel­dorf fash­ion Days, DFD for short, there will be a shop­ping day with many pro­mo­tions and exten­ded open­ing hours in the city on 24 July. These include the DFD Lounge, vari­ous even­ing events, art and cul­tur­al activ­it­ies and retail­er pro­mo­tions such as pop-up stores, win­dow dis­plays and open-air pos­ing plat­forms.
König­sallee has always been a focal point for shop­ping enthu­si­asts and also enjoys enorm­ous pop­ular­ity as a photo motif. Placed at prom­in­ent loc­a­tions on the Kö, one-metre plat­forms — the so-called pos­ing plat­forms — make it pos­sible to cap­ture the shop­ping exper­i­ence in a spe­cial way. In addi­tion, pop-up shop win­dows will set the scene for Schad­ow­platz and the sur­round­ing König­sallee from 22 to 25 July. The show­cases can be freely designed by the retail­ers and whisk pass­ers-by away into art­fully designed fash­ion worlds. The AMD Hoch­schule für Mode und Design, Unique, Change Linger­ie and Rolf Buck will be there with all kinds of curi­os­it­ies from his cult second-hand shop Vas­el­ine.
The most import­ant day for shop­ping and cul­ture enthu­si­asts as well as retail­ers is Sat­urday, 24 July with the so-called “Shop­ping Day” — exten­ded open­ing hours until 10 pm. 120 regis­tra­tions from retail, gast­ro­nomy as well as gal­ler­ies and hotels with inspir­ing activ­a­tions ensure an order week with fest­iv­al char­ac­ter, from which not only the nation­al busi­ness pub­lic but also tour­ists and the people of Düs­sel­dorf will bene­fit. The crown­ing glory of the “Shop­ping Day” will be an art­fully staged water pro­jec­tion that vis­it­ors can mar­vel at along König­sallee and the Kö-Bogen as dusk falls. All activ­it­ies have been coordin­ated with the Düs­sel­dorf reg­u­lat­ory author­it­ies and will be adap­ted to the Corona Pro­tec­tion Ordin­ance depend­ing on the infec­tion situation.

Roas­ted sea bass on braised fen­nel and potato-olive puree

Sea bass:

4 fresh sea bass fillets

salt, lem­on pepper 

wheat flour for dusting 

olive oil                          

1 sprig each of thyme and rosemary 

1 table­spoon butter

Dust the sea bass fil­lets lightly with flour on the skin side and sea­son all over with salt. Heat a non-stick pan, add olive oil and sear the sea bass on the skin side until the skin is nice and crispy. Now turn the fish fil­lets over to the flesh side. Add the but­ter, thyme sprig and rose­mary sprig and sea­son with lem­on pep­per. Fry over a low heat until cooked to the desired doneness.

Braised fen­nel:

3 piece of fen­nel (not too small) 

2 piece of diced shallots 

2 piece of gar­lic finely sliced 

4 table­spoon olive oil 

1 sprig each of rose­mary and thyme

60 ml white wine 

6oo ml strained tomato puree

salt, lem­on pep­per and paprika powder

Wash and quarter the fen­nel. Sauté the fen­nel in a pan with the shal­lot cubes and gar­lic slices in olive oil. Allow the fen­nel to col­our a little. Sea­son with salt, lem­on pep­per and paprika powder. Deglaze with white wine and add the tomato purée. Cov­er with a lid and sim­mer on a low flame for approx. 20 — 30 minutes until soft.

Olives — mashed pota­toes:

650 g peeled, floury potatoes

200 ml cream 

5o ml milk 

60 g butter

150 g green olives (man­zanilla) pit­ted and chopped 

2 EL good extra vir­gin olive oil 

20 g parmes­an cheese 

salt, pep­per, nutmeg

Boil the peeled pota­toes in plenty of salted water. Bring the cream, milk and but­ter to the boil in a pot and sea­son with salt, pep­per and nut­meg. Drain the fully cooked pota­toes, steam them briefly and press them through the potato ricer into the hot cream. Stir with a whisk. Gradu­ally add the chopped olives, Parmes­an cheese and olive oil. Sea­son to taste if necessary.

Arran­ging

First place the mashed potato in the centre of the plate and form a ring with a table­spoon. Place the fen­nel in the middle of the potato ring. Pour the tomato sauce over the fen­nel and arrange the sea bass fil­let on top. A sprig of rose­mary with olives picked on top is suit­able as a garnish.

THE PER­FECT ESPRESSO MARTINI

Even if the name might sug­gest it, this clas­sic does­n’t come from Italy at all, but from Lon­don. It was there that Dick Brad­sell mixed it for the first time in 1983. Accord­ing to the story, a beau­ti­ful young lady ordered a cock­tail with cof­fee and Dick mixed vodka and cof­fee liqueur with a fresh shot of espresso straight from the porta­fil­ter next to his sta­tion. The suc­cess was enorm­ous and the cock­tail became an instant classic.

Per­fect for after work: the Espresso Mar­tini is one of the after-din­ner drinks. Alessio reveals the ideal way to pre­pare it.

Poc­cino, Alessio Sorce 

Espresso Mar­tini

40 ml vodka

20 ml cof­fee liqueur (Gal­li­ano Ris­tretto is the best)

25 ml fresh espresso (we recom­mend Club di Poc­cino Espresso, of course)

Pre­par­a­tion

Put all the ingredi­ents in a shaker with ice cubes and shake well. Then strain into a chilled mar­tini glass. Finally, gar­nish the foam with 3 espresso beans and enjoy!
