Kö-Bogen: Architecture by Daniel Libeskind

An award-winning building ensemble on Königsallee — and a quarter that brings together style, architecture and encounter in Düsseldorf.

Architecture & quarter

With its multiple award-winning architecture by star architect Daniel Libeskind from New York, the Kö-Bogen has become a modern landmark of Düsseldorf. More than a building ensemble, it is an urban lifestyle icon on Königsallee — a place for style, architecture and encounter, where the city shows its cosmopolitan side.

Characteristic is the striking façade of glass and white natural stone, broken open towards the north and west by diagonal cuts. These distinctive “cuts” give the building its unmistakable silhouette and let light and city flow into the architecture. Green bands and the floating gardens of Königsallee connect the ensemble with the adjacent Hofgarten — Libeskind's signature speaks its very own language here.

“It does not get more urban than at Kö-Bogen. It is the beating heart of the city.”

A place to be in the heart of Düsseldorf

To see and be seen, international trends and exciting culinary concepts make the Kö-Bogen a true “place to be”. It is a meeting point for young and old, open to everyone, high-quality but never aloof — and in a good Rhineland mood. Whether a beautiful evening dress, a new business suit, the next favourite piece or simply a good cappuccino: the Kö-Bogen brings together selected brands, insider tips and indulgence into one place where urban flâneurs from all over the world feel at home.

The location could hardly be more central. Situated directly on Königsallee, the Kö-Bogen is just a few minutes' walk from the Heinrich-Heine-Allee underground station; the Hofgarten begins right next door. The elegance of the “Kö” meets the calm of one of Germany's oldest public parks — a contrast that makes the quarter so special.

Experience the architecture

Anyone who wants to understand the architecture of Kö-Bogen up close can discover it as part of the summer program: on the Architecture Tours with Alex Iwan, the architecture expert offers insights into one of Düsseldorf's most distinctive quarters. The ART:WALK Festival also combines art and architecture around the Uecker Nagel.

In the summer of 2026, the Kö-Bogen hosts seven open-air event series — from dance evenings with Tanzhaus NRW and lounge Saturdays to the newly launched ART:WALK Festival. An overview of all dates is available in the Summer Program 2026.
