Just a stone's throw from the Kö-Bogen, it brings together academia and the public right in the city centre: on Schadowplatz, the University House combines historic charm with modern facilities and, as a central hub for exchange, complements the diverse range of attractions around the Kö-Bogen, in the immediate vicinity of Cornelius-Platz and in a prime location on Königsallee.
As part of Heinrich Heine University, the University House brings research to Düsseldorf's city centre. With this location, the university, which is otherwise situated on the outskirts, brings people together right in the heart of the city. It serves as a hub where research findings are presented, social issues are discussed and new ideas are developed. The institute's programme includes regular lectures, panel discussions, exhibitions and cultural events.
A meeting place for all
The building is particularly valued as a meeting place: students, researchers and interested members of the public come together here to engage in conversation and discover new perspectives. This makes science more accessible and understandable, as complex topics can be explained clearly and reflected upon collectively. At the same time, academics gain valuable insights from society.
Classicism amid modernity
Architecturally, the building is a special place that symbolises openness and transparency. The neoclassical façade provides a striking contrast to the surrounding modern buildings, making the university a distinctive feature of urban life. Inside, bright rooms, professional facilities and flexible event spaces create ideal conditions for a wide variety of events.
Overall, the University Centre helps to impart knowledge, promote dialogue and strengthen the link between the university and society in the long term, right on our doorstep.
