Just a short walk from the Kö-Bogen through the Hofgarten, close to Corneliusplatz and the famous Königsallee, lies a special place: the Kunstpalast Düsseldorf. Situated directly on the Rhine and the Rheinterrassen, this community museum is not only a treasure trove of history, culture and memories, but also a meeting place for local residents, art lovers and international visitors.
Both inside and out, the museum attracts around 500,000 visitors each year. On the magnificent forecourt, the spacious fountain creates an atmosphere that invites you to pause and reflect. On sunny days, sun loungers offer additional comfort.
A collection of 130,000 objects
Spanning 5,000 m², the collection features more than 130,000 objects, making it one of the most significant in Germany. It encompasses centuries of art history across a wide range of periods: from the Classical era to the Modern era, works from almost every artistic genre are on display. The collection includes paintings, sculptures and prints, as well as various everyday objects.
The programme is enriched by a changing programme of special exhibitions and other collections. One of these is the world-famous glass collection, which comprises over 13,000 exhibits spanning more than 3,000 years. Other popular events include the Palastblühen in spring, DIE GROSSE and Sparda's JUNGE NACHT. The Robert Schumann Hall also makes the Kunstpalast an important venue for concerts, readings and cultural events.
NRW-Forum as part of Kunstpalast
A few metres further on, the NRW-Forum, as part of the Kunstpalast, complements the artistic repertoire with international photography, pop art and digital culture. Exhibitions, festivals and interactive concepts address current social issues.
Cuisine at Anna Maria
Anyone wishing to linger a little after their museum visit will find the perfect atmosphere at the Anna Maria restaurant for a break with coffee and cake or for a convivial dinner with a view of the Ehrenhof and the Tonhalle. For drinks and music, the bar in the palace's Creamcheese Room invites you to enjoy a few pleasant hours reminiscent of the 60s and 70s.
Located right next to the Kö-Bogen, the Kunstpalast is a popular destination within Düsseldorf's creative scene. Whether you're simply curious or a connoisseur, the museum inspires visitors of all ages, making it a much-loved neighbour.
